I’m Tim Pepper, an engineer and executive with 30 years experience in open source software development.
As a specializing generalist, my career has covered it all: Commercial tech companies from fourty, to fourty thousand, to four hundred thousand employees. From the start up to the hundred year old public company. And most recently, working to guide the open source software usage patterns of two million US federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial government employees as a public servant.
My career successes stand on a broad foundation of corporate work experience, formal education in Computer Engineering and Computer Science, and decades of technical innovation across the stack from the Linux kernel / device drivers, through operating systems / Linux distributions and software updates, up through cloud orchestration, and also artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum computing.
And now I’m doing it as a consultant!
Delivering transformational business impact by breaking down complex open source scenarios, rebuilding better systems, and connecting and helping others is my specialty.
Security, compliance, open source, and privacy engineering is my domain.
I map principles to invariants and craft designs to satisfy these invariants.
